Programme of activities on Friday 5 September at the Luiss Campus in Viale Romania

Here is the schedule of activities:

Unlock yourself and your learning mindset

Kick-off activities to welcome students and to present the Graduate Education Model and its structure.

In the first part of the session the graduate education model will be presented while the second part of the session will be dedicated to Learning Mindset, a practical workshop to build an effective, conscious and sustainable approach to study, but above all to learn how to work in a group while respecting others and oneself. Students will receive suggestions on how to improve their way of studying and/or adapt it to the study required by the graduate education model.

Career track builder with BAT

The aim of the workshop is to help students imagine their career path in a concrete way by identifying ambitions, required skills, available resources and actions to be taken even while still studying for their master's degree. Each workshop will be held by a HR professional from a partner business who will explain how to build and enhance a competitive CV and provide useful tips for entering the labour market.

Unconventional speed networking

During this informal meeting, students can quickly get in touch with their fellow students, relevant tutors and alumni, fostering an initial sense of belonging and learning about the resources available to them. The first part of the meeting is devoted to a conversation between the students' assigned tutor and a young guest alumnus during which (i) the alumnus will talk about their experience as a Luiss student and how their professional and life path has taken a different direction from the one dictated by their studies and (ii) the tutor will present the tutoring service.

After the speeches, students will be able to get to know each other and talk to university tutors and alumni, to whom they can pose questions about their university studies and the choices they have made during their careers, the services available to them and the key contacts at the University.

Three educational activities, lasting 8 hours each and incorporating transversal and multidisciplinary content, will be offered during the welcome days. The sessions of each activity, lasting 2 hours each, will take place every day from Wednesday 3 to Saturday 6 September from 12 noon to 2 pm and you can choose which educational activity to attend, from those on offer, by booking.

In addition to the welcome day dedicated to you, your participation is also required for the entire duration of the educational activity chosen from the following:

Entrepreneurship Sprint

The introductory activity on Design Thinking and Entrepreneurial Mindset aims to provide students with an understanding of Design Thinking as a mindset and approach to innovation. The aim is to analyse the strategic role of DT in the success and competitiveness of an enterprise, experiencing its practical application to business processes to improve efficiency and promote customer-oriented solutions.

Humanities Toolkit

The past that returns: understanding the present through comparison with the past.

Starting from the analysis of classic texts on political thought, political science and the history of political institutions, students will be able to develop their critical thinking skills in order to understand how dynamics of the past reoccur in contemporary reality in new forms and what social, economic and political actions to take on the basis of the past.

A classic piece of literature will be analysed, emphasising its political underpinnings and implications, and through classroom discussion, students will be guided in analysing the articulation of contemporary myths to understand their performative nature and strategic potential.

Thinking through play – Training critical thinking through game theory

Inspired by the P.E.R. (Play, Explore, Research) project, this experiential course is aimed at developing critical thinking skills, creativity and problem solving in female students through play, thus following game theory. The pathway aims to promote life skills anchored in everyday play, overturning the common idea of freedom as the absence of rules. On the contrary, the pathway highlights how playing means immersing oneself in rules and accepting limits to explore the world.
