Presentation of the Freshers’ Week Program
An online asynchronous presentation session of the Freshers’ Week program will be held on Monday 4 September. In the dedicated room, each student will be able to connect remotely and access information through a system of thematic breakout rooms. The session will cover various topics, including the program of activities, details about the Project Work (progress, uploading, and acquisition of CFU), the group they belong to and the group leader. Students will receive assistance regarding the tools used for digital teaching.
Presentation of the Degree Program
On Monday, 5 September, online sessions will be held to present the Degree Program by the Program Director, Professor Saverio Bozzolan. The session will also include the testimony of Enrico Cavatorta, a Luiss graduate and now Chief Financial & Corporate Officer at Lavazza who will talk about his university and professional experience, as well as illustrate the features and professional opportunities associated with this Degree Program.
Welcome Luiss Freshers
During the two welcome weeks, the “Welcome to Freshers” Ceremony with institutional greetings from Luiss management will take place in the afternoon of 12 September.
Smart Talks on the topic “Creating a unified foundation for Sustainability: research, practice and education on Environmental, Economic and Socio-Cultural Sustainability”
Each Talk will focus on sustainability topics and will feature guests from the University’s business partners who will share insights and useful information for students on how to structure their research-based group assignment. Each Talk will open with a keynote address from a guest speaker, followed by a discussion on the scientific component moderated by a Faculty member, and a presentation of case studies and examples of research and innovation project led directly by high-profile experts in their research groups. Each of the three themes will link to a challenge that will be assigned to a student cluster.
6 September 2022 – ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY – Moderator Professor Pietro de Giovanni (Luiss Guido Carli)
The Keynote Speaker of the event is Sabina Ratti, Sustainability Vice President of Eni. Companies represented in the panel discussion are Acea, Henkel, and FAO.
Tentative topics of discussion are circular economy, climate change, renewable energy, water, and soil conservation, etc.
7 September 2022 – ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY – Moderator Professor Cristiano Busco (Luiss Guido Carli)
The Keynote Speaker of the event is an expert in corporate investment banking of Intesa Sanpaolo. Companies represented in the panel discussion are Banca Iccrea and LA4G.
Tentative topics of discussion are financial sustainability, sustainability reporting, sustainable finance, and sustainability governance, etc.
8 September 2022 – SOCIO-CULTURAL SUSTAINABILITY – Moderator Professor Eugenio Guglielmelli (Campus Biomedico Roma)
The Keynote Speaker of the event is Marco Morbidelli, Group Chief HR & Organization Officer at Angelini. Companies represented in the panel discussion are IGT Lottery and P&G.
Tentative topics of discussion are health and well-being, individual development, and the future of the world of work.
A challenge on sustainability issues in relation to Luiss is scheduled.
Starting from the analysis of data available – Luiss Sustainability Plan, Impact Report, etc. – students will be divided into teams and be asked to deep dive into an area of study and design an “intervention” to improve the status.
At the end of the week, each team will deliver a presentation of their project idea. The best projects will be selected by the coordinators of degree programs and be shared during the final plenary session during Freshers’ Week 2022 on Thursday 15 September.
Meet the Community
This activity aims to introduce students to the field of research and practice-based education from the very beginning of the Master’s Degree Program, ensuring that each group acquires useful information about doing research at Luiss. Specifically, the activity will involve dividing the students into groups: each group will be assigned to a name of a Luiss Faculty member who will lead the task of interviewing the guest, doing research on their specific role, and introducing them to the rest of the class.
Students will be asked to work in groups to inquiry about the guest’s career, professional interests, and achievements. The interview will take place during the first week of the activity. After the interview, students will work independently on a PowerPoint presentation which they will deliver in plenary. Groups will present the outcomes of the interviews to the rest of the class during the two plenary days that will take place during the second week (13-14 September). The guest interviewee will also be connected to follow the presentations and will be given the opportunity to comment and supplement the content covered and to answer any possible questions from the class.
Career Go
The Career Go training activities aim to introduce students to the importance of self-awareness in building their future career path. Over the course of the two days, students will be supported to increase their self-awareness through theoretical-practical activities to acquire relevant skills, and work on their Personal Branding and CV.

- Pre-work
Students will be sent a digital and editable kit (1-5 September), introducing them to the activities including 4 podcasts (Skill Library), a CV template (CVing your future), and background material helpful to prepare for the exercises to be completed during the Live Session and supporting the Flipped Learning mode. - Skills Library
On Thursday 15 September, the Career team will present the Skills Library activity. The digital library consists of a collection of 4 short inspirational podcasts in which successful professionals explain the concept of entrepreneurship through practical examples (role modeling) in an interview with a lecturer. The learning goal is to enable students to apply one of the fundamental skills for the job market in a practical way, by engaging them in a group activity based on situational output.
At the end of the workshop, students will produce a paper that will be uploaded on Luiss Learn. - CVing your future
The second Career Go activity will be CVing your future and will also take place on Thursday 15 September. This initiative includes a talk by HR experts that students can access at different times.
Students are supported on how to present themselves to Employers following the “Self-Branding” logic. During the first part of this activity, participants are asked to reflect on a set of questions on their acquired skills and career goals. The purpose of this exercise is to encourage students to self-analyze using the “skills assessment” logic. In the second half of the activity, students will be invited to attend a workshop on how to prepare an effective CV through theoretical and practical learning. Upon finalizing this activity, students will have completed the pre-work, including a Vademecum on how to draft a CV and the Luiss CV template, and will be asked to work independently on their CV and upload it onto the Career Center platform no later than 26 September.
- Caring and Go
On Friday 16 September, there will be space dedicated to offering support to Career Go participants. During two dedicated timeslots, students will be granted access to different virtual classrooms where members of the Career Service Team will be available to provide guidance on drafting and uploading their CVs into the Career Center platform. The purpose of this activity is to support students to complete their CV by giving them tips and general guidance.
Optional Activities: The Conversation on Leadership meetings
The Conversations on Leadership are two panels organized during the Freshers’ Week 2022.
The two panels will feature two CEOs from leading Italian and international companies, and the session will be moderated by a Luiss professor. The Managers will discuss issues related to Leadership through practical experiences and reflections on how leadership models can adapt to or be conditioned by the needs of one’s sector, by cultural or personal elements or, more generally, by the context of the job world.
Both panels will be in English and will take place in the evening hours (12 and 14 September, 6:00 pm-7:00pm).
